KOCHI: The megaplex run by Cinepolis at the Centre Square Mall here will remain closed this weekend in the wake of the recent High Court order. In its judgment, the court observed since the mall was not entitled to final NOC from the Fire and Rescue Services for running the establishment on the sixth to eight floors, it is not entitled to operate the multiplex in the building anymore.

According to a source close to Centre Square Mall, the legal team from Cinepolis will visit Kochi to bring clarity to their future plans by Monday. Till then, the 11 screens - three VIP and eight traditional screens - of the megaplex will remain closed. The multiplex did not function on Friday.

If the multiplex screens remain closed, the beneficiaries will be the single screen city theatres located near the mall. With the Onam season fast approaching and big releases expected to hit cinemas next week, the closing down of multiplex will be a loss to movie buffs as Cinepolis is a popular choice for watching films.
