KOCHI: The traffic at National Highway 66 stretch from Aroor to Vytilla came to a standstill due to improper traffic management during the CPM flagpole march as a prelude to the party state committee meeting on Tuesday.

The traffic was completely blocked from 8.30 am to 10.30 am. Several office-goers failed to reach their workplace in time. There was a long queue of vehicles from Madavana Junction to Kundanoor Junction.
The situation worsened when vehicles on both directions were forced to go through one side of the road. When vehicles started diverting to bylanes and arterial roads, the traffic in Kochi city was affected.

“The authorities did not give any alert so commuters and vehicles can opt for other roads and avoid serious traffic blocks. This is a failure on the part of the cops who could have diverted the traffic or controlled the rally. All political parties should refrain from programmes in public places by which life of public is affected,” Ernakulam District Residents Association Apex Council (EDRAAC) president Ranganatha Prabhu said.
