Kashmir to Kanyakumari cycling campaign under way

KOCHI: Lieutenant Commander Manoj S Gupta of Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, visited the Southern Naval Command on Saturday, as part of his solo cycling campaign from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. The Kochi-Haripad leg of the expedition was flagged off by Southern Naval Command Chief of Staff Rear Admiral R J Nadkarni. The officer will be transiting through Haripad and Kazhakoottam enroute to Kanyakumari.

The officer was received by Captain P E Prasad, executive officer of INS Venduruthy, on his arrival in Kochi on Friday. The campaign aimed at creating awareness about the ‘Armed Forces Flag Day’, observed on December 7. 

The cycling expedition started on June 6 from the Khardung La pass in Ladakh, the highest motorable pass in the world, and will culminate in Kanyakumari on July 16. Manoj has braved diverse terrain, climate and intense rain during the course of his strenuous 3,700-km journey.
