KOCHI:With the month of Karkidakam beginning on Tuesday, holistic Karkidaka treatments, which includes Karkidaka kanji, will start across the state.There are several established and credible institutions which provide genuine rejuvenation treatments. However, there are several fly-by-night operators who advertise on excellent treatment during the month of Karkidakam and after a few months shut shop and decamp. The method of treatment and the medicines used for treatment, including for traditional oil bath and medicines for consumption, are questionable here as these health care centres do not have any authenticity. Most of them do not use proper methods or quality medicines for treatment.
In contrast, registered Ayurvedic centres which have been in existence for the past several years have the credibility as they have provided results and those who attended the treatment return back regularly.
Sethunath, Manager, Santhigiri group told Express, “Karkidaka month treatment is excellent for the rejuvenation and the human body requires such a treatment. However, owing to the high publicity followed by the huge market, several fly-by-night operators without any credibility or license have entered the fray thereby polluting the industry. This has to be controlled and the government should go for a thorough check on the practitioners and the method of treatment they are employing.”
Dr Ashok who works with an established center while speaking to Express said, “The government must swing into action immediately, otherwise it will be too late. No fictitious players should be allowed to operate in such a sensitive industry which gives international exposure to the state. Such a situation is unheard of anywhere in the world.”With experts in the field of Ayurveda and rejuvenation raising these concerns, there is a need for authorities concerned to be on an alert.
