KOLLAM: Sea erosion occurred in the coastal areas between Paravur and Eravipuram in the district on Thursday afternoon.
Around ten houses of fishermen at Pozhikkara near Paravur were submerged under water. A fisherman who ventured into the sea in a catamaran sustained serious injuries. The Kollam-Paravur coastal road at Mukkom and Thanni areas has been badly damaged. Certain parts of the newly-constructed road were washed away in the tidal waves. The sea became turbulent around noon and the tidal waves and sea erosion lasted for few hours.
