THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Education Minister M A Baby inaugurated the education portal, higherstudiesonline.com, the new venture by a group based in Pathanamthitta, at a function held in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday.

The site provides information on various courses and entrance examiations conducted by Indian and foreign universities.

Delivering the inaugural address, the Education Minister appreciated the efforts of the portal directors of the website for starting such an initiative. He asked the directors of the website to ensure the credibility of the firms who would like to have their advertisements on this site.

``Through the website, we intend to provide updated information quickly. Though information on education are provided by the print media, it is very difficult to get updated information. The website provides a detailed description about the courses, questionnaires, articles on education and journals. Besides, there is facility for the online admission to various courses.

Students can also avail of the online counselling service,’’ said Joseph Mathew, one among the directors of the website.   Kerala Education Committee chairman Ninan Koshy, MSS state secretary Hamid Labba, Prof Vijayalekshmi and Abid Shahim Azeez, director of the website, also attended the function.
