THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Tense moments prevailed at Varkala on Sunday after three Dalit Human Rights Movement (DHRM) activists, who have been  arrested in connection with the murder of Sivaprasad, were brought for collecting evidence.

The local people gathered in large numbers at the murder spot on receiving the information that the accused - Subhash, Sudhi and Sunil - would be brought there.

When the accused were brought to the spot, the local people got agitated and some of them even tried to manhandle them.

The police sources said that the DHRM activists had confessed that they had made plans to murder another person of the locality on September 20 morning. Rajendran, who runs a small shop, was the one who was to be targeted. However, the gang dropped the move at the last minute after they suspected the presence of police at the spot.

The accused had confessed their involvement in the murder of Sivaprasad and attack on Ashokan. But, the weapons used for the murder are yet to be recovered.

Four more persons involved in the case are still absconding.
