THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The fifth Asiavision movie awards for the year 2011 have been announced. Salim Kumar has been selected as the best actor for (Adaminte Makan Abu) and Genelia D'souza was adjudged the best actress (Urumi). Mammootty has been selected for the Millennium Star award and K J Yesudas will receive the award for lifetime achievement.

 The awards were declared here on Thursday. The awards were announced by the officials of Asiavision and Big FM in a press meet here on Thursday. The award comprises cash award, memento and certificate.

  Other major awards include, the Excellence Award in Hindi for director Siddique for 'Bodyguard', Excellence Award for Tamil for A R Murugadoss (Gajini, Ezham Arivu). Prabhudeva (Urumi), Jayaprada and Anupam Kher (Pranayam) bagged the awards for outstanding performance in the respective movies.

 'Adaminte Makan Abu' was selected as the best outstanding Indian movie in the Indian movie industry for the year and 'Urumi' was adjudged the best film. Actor Thilakan won the award for the best character role award in the movie 'Indian Rupee'.   The event is being organised by Asiavision Advertising Dubai in association with Lensman Productions of Dubai Media City.  The awards will be given away at an event in Sharjah cricket stadium on November 25.
