THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A middle-aged woman and her 10-year-old daughter were found dead in their house at Santhipuram, near Thiruvallom, in the late hours of Thursday. The deceased were identified as Sujitha Kumari, 34, and her younger daughter Anagha, 10. Sujitha was found hanging in the kitchen while Anagha was lying dead in her bed.

According to Thiruvallom police, the incident occurred in the late evening after Akhila, the elder daughter, accompanied her grandmother to the hospital.

Sujitha’s husband committed suicide almost 10 years ago after the lorry he was driving met with an accident resulting in the death of two. Sujitha was said to be in a distressed mental state since.

Anagha’s body was found in her bed and was devoid of any bodily injury marks. It was Sujitha’s father, who first saw the bodies reported the matter to Thiravallom police.

The bodies were shifted to the Medical College Hospital and autopsy conducted. The police said that it appears to be a case of suicide but added that any thing could be officially said after receiving the port-mortem report.
