School bus tracking software - A big relief for parents

Express News Service

The city is yet to forget the Karikkakom and Channankara tragedies, which together had claimed the lives of 10 children and a maid. Now, Technopark-based Rain Concert Technologies has come to the aid of worried parents of school children by introducing a school bus tracking system.

‘In an emergency safe bus solutions’ (IESBS), a web-mobile technological convergence solution, sends alerts for violations such as over-speeding by sending SMS to the parents’ mobile phones. It will alert parents about the route, speed, deviation from the normal route, etc.

The system has been successfully introduced in buses of Jyothis Central School, Kazhakkoottam. Union Minister of State for Human Resources Development Shashi Tharoor inaugurated the facility the other day by integrating the system with all buses in Jyothis Central School.

Reckless driving is usually the main reason for bus accidents. Safe bus solutions offers the perfect remedy as the bus driver will be under constant scrutiny. In case of violation of traffic rules, the security meter installed in the school bus will update the web server and the school authorities and parents will get hands-on feedback. The security meter also helps to identify unauthorised behaviour, speeding or reckless driving and numerous other causes of accidents.

Apart from these, in the event of an accident, there is also a provision to alert authorities and parents that the bus has met with an accident, through the simple press of a button. Upon pressing the ‘Save Our Soul’ (SOS) button, the persons concerned will receive an SMS with the accident alert.

“Safeguarding the lives of our fellow-beings, especially children, is our responsibility and it is our duty to respond immediately and actively in case an accident occurs in our vicinity. It is the lack of response from our end that can make or take a life. The choice is ultimately ours; whether we want to share their suffering and try and save them or merely stand there and watch the scene. Everybody should understand that it is our morality and civility that should overpower our withdrawal instinct and save the life of a human being,’’ says Abhilash R, CEO, Rain Concert Technologies.
