Films on waste menace, women released

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two documentaries, including one made by a fourth standard student, were released in the city the other day. The film, ‘Love Plastic’ by Devu Krishna, a fourth standard student at Holy Angels’ School, focuses on the menace of waste in Thiruvananthapuram city.

 ‘Pennulakam’, made by K Swaminathan, deals with the various problems faced by women in society. It is woven with reference to ‘Chamaya vilakaku,’ a ritual in which men appear as women at Kottamkulangara Temple in Chavara, Kollam.

In a function held at Museum Auditorium, noted writer and social activist Sugathakumari released the CD of ‘Love Plastic.’ M Shajahan, general secretary of the Kerala School Teachers’ Association, released the CD of ‘Pennulakam.’

C P Aravindakshan, A G Oleena and Sister  Angel Thomas participated in the function.
