THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The BJP district committee on Tuesday alleged that the UDF Government had cheated the people of Thiruvananthapuram by not making any specific allocation of funds for the four-laning of the National Highway stretch of the Karamana-Kalayikkavila stretch.

Although Finance Minister K M Mani spoke about the proposal, he was mum on fund allocation, BJP district president Karamana Jayan said in a statement. Failing to allocate funds for the road development at a time when land acquisition is about to begin is tantamount to cheating the people.

If funds are not sanctioned immediately, the BJP will launch agitations, including blocking Ministers who use the road, he said.
