The Confederation of Residents’ Associations (Confra) has urged the urged the government to establish a decentralised waste management system in Thiruvananthapuram city in the wake of reports that dengue and other communicable diseases are spreading here.
A meeting of Confra has also demanded a ban on agitations which are causing a hindrance to the waste removal from the city.
A Gandhian prayer meet will be organised in front of Cliff House on Tuesday in protest against the delay in completing the Karamana-Kaliyikkavila road development work.
The panchayat building causing hindrance to the Balaramapuram-Vizhinjam road development should be demolished, Confra said.
The meeting also protested against the inaction of the police in checking the sale of intoxicants to school children.
Raghu, M Sasidharan Nair, Venu Haridas, Suresh Kumar Nair, Vidyadharan, Raymond, Sivandaka Rajan and T S Suresh Kumar were among those who participated in the meeting.
