National seminar on democracy

A two-day national seminar on ‘Parliamentary democracy and Neoliberalism in India’ will be jointly conducted by the Institute of Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Kerala, in association with the Department of Economics, University College, on Thursday and Friday at Government Guest House, Thycaud.

 Speaker G Karthikeyan will inaugurate the seminar on Thursday at 10 am. Shafi Mather, economic advisor to the Chief Minister, will deliver the keynote address.

 Various sessions in the seminar would be chaired by experts in the areas concerned.

In the seminar, there will be a special session on ‘Issues challenging parliamentary democracy in India in the era of neoliberalism’ on Friday which will be chaired by journalist Sunnykutty Abraham. C P Narayanan MP, P C Vishnunath MLA, V S Sunil Kumar MLA, C P John, member of Kerala State Planning Board, and K Surendran, state general secretary of BJP, will be present.

 T P Sreenivasan, Vice-Chairman, Kerala State Higher Education Council, will deliver the valedictory address on Friday at 3.30 pm.
