Navarathri Kalolsavam begins

The nine-day Navarathri Kalolsavam was inaugurated by Uthradom Thirunal Marthanda Varma, head of the Travancore royal family, on Monday. The programme is being jointly organised by Deseeya Balatharangam, State Institute of Languages, Vyloppilly Samskrithi Bhavan, Nehru Yuva Kendra and Regatta Dance Academy.

 There will be cultural programmes on all the  days. From 10 am to 5 pm, the programmes will be held at Vyloppilly Samskrithi Bhavan and from 6 pm onwards at Nishagandhi Auditorium. Nearly 20 institutions from the city will participate in the programmes.

 On Tuesday, there will be a group painting camp led by Lalitakala Sangham and an exhibition will be on till October 24.

 On October 24, Vidyarambham day, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will initiate kids into the world of letters at Vyloppilly Samskrithi Bhavan. Other than the Chief Minister, C Ramachandran Nair, Chairman of Science and Technology Department; K Ravi, former Advisor, Commonwealth; M R Thampan; Basheer Moulavi, artist Kattoor Narayana Pillai; Bichu Thirumala; and Soorya Krishnamoorthy will also initiate the kids into writing.
