Scholarships were distributed to various beneficiaries of the Social Security Schemes as part of the Social Security month of the LIC on Monday.

 Labour commissioner T T Antony inaugurated the distribution of the scholarships. Ten nominees of deceased members received Rs 30,000 each and 100 students from Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam received Rs 600 each as first the instalment of the scholarship.

  The Social Security Scheme is a free of cost insurance-cum-scholarship scheme for the landless families of the state. The premium is paid by the Centre and the State Governments.

  LIC senior divisional manager Lekshmy Kylas, marketing manager E S Gopakumar and Malankara Social Services Society John Vilayil were present.
