Kerala State Institute for Children’s Literature will organise a drawing competition for students as part of the Viswa Malayalam Mahotsavam 2012. renowned sculptor Kanayi Kunhiraman will inaugurate the competition at Kanakakkunnu Palace grounds on October 28. The state-level competition is open to students from 5 years of age. In each category, a first prize of Rs 10,000, second prize of Rs 5000 and third prize of Rs 3000 will be presented. Registration will be open till 5 pm on October 25.

The Viswa Malayalam Mahotsavam is being jointly organised by the Cultural Affais Department and Kerala Sahitya Akademi. Literary and cultural events in connection with the festival will be held from October 30 and November 1 at various venues in the city which will be attended by luminaries in the fields. Staging of folk arts, traditional art forms, seminars and discussions on Malayalam language etc will be organised as part of the Viswa Malayalam Mahotsavam from October 25 onwards.
