Educational loans: Orders issued

Orders have been issued finalising the guidelines regarding the government’s decision to take over the interest liability on educational loans availed of by students in the BPL category between 2004 and 2009.

 Only those students from families listed in the current BPL list of the Local Self- Government Department will be eligible for the concession. Students who have availed of loans from scheduled commercial banks for courses approved as per guidelines of the IBA are eligible for the scheme. The district collectors will be responsible for identifying the beneficiaries in each district. They have to ensure that the loans were taken as per the guidelines.
