Children’s Literature awards announced

P P Ramachandran and Ambalapuzha Gopakumar bagged the Children’s Literature awards 2012 for story/novel and poetry respectively, instituted by the Kerala State Institute of Children’s literature, Cultural Affairs Minister K C Joseph announced here on Friday.

Ramachandran won the award for his work ‘Pathalam’ and Gopakumar for his poetry titled ‘Rappadi’.

The award for the best work on science went to ‘Varu Namukku Poompattakale Nireekshikkam’ by Abdulla Palaeri and M K Sanu’s ‘Sree Narayana Guru’ won the award for biography, Culture Minister K C Joseph said.

Bahavani Cheerath Rajagopalan’s ‘Gosayiparambile Bhootham’ won the award for the best translation. T R Rajesh won the award for film adaptation of ‘Kottiyum Kothukum Marangothiyum Uppuvitta Katha’.

‘Kuttikalkulla 21 Nadan Pattukal’ won Jayendran the award for best illustration. Pradeep P won the award for best design for ‘Manathe Kazhchakal’. The awards include a purse of Rs 10,000 citation and a statuette. Joseph also said that entries has been invited for the first Pala K M Mathew Balasahitya Award.

The award carries a prize money of Rs 60,001, citation and a statuette.
