KSEB former employees form outfit

Express News Service

Former employees of the KSEB have formed an independent organisation named Electricity Pensioners Welfare Association with a declared aim of lending their expertise to guide the proposed restructuring of the Board.

‘’In the wake of the restructuring of the Board, there is a strong need to have an effective organisation of the experienced former employees so as to utilise their expertise to guide the reform process towards better growth and consumer friendliness in the power sector,’’ K Radhakrishnan, former member of Kerala State Electricity Board, who has been selected as the state chairman of the Association, said in Kollam.

Radhakrishnan said that the new Electricity Act gave the pensioners a legal status of one of the main stakeholders of the company to be formed. Hence, an umbrella organisation for the 30,000-odd pensioners has become a necessity. The organisation will function independent of any political or category affiliation, he said.  The other office-bearers of the Association include M Thomas (general secretary), K Sasidharan Nair (working chairman), K R Unnithan, K Anandakkuttan Nair, K K Pareethkunju (vice-chairmen), N Kesavaperumal (treasurer), G Rajan, Thressiamma Thomas (secretaries), K K Mohamed Usammath, R Suresh Kumar (organising secretaries), K K Radhakrishnan, S K Yesodharan and K P Vijayasekharan Pillai (central committee members).

The office-bearers said that district conventions would be held soon in all districts.
