Ramesh Narayan planning 36-hour non-stop recital

Noted Hindustani music exponent  Pandit Ramesh Narayan is poised to set a record through ‘Sangeet Samarpan 2013’ ,a non-stop recital for 36 hours on the premises of Shantharam Pond at the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune, from January 19.

Ramesh Narayan had realised a cherished dream while entering his name in the Limca Book of World Records, when he sang without a break for 30 hours in 1994. “I’m trying to improve it,” he told a news conference here on Saturday.

Artistes and dignitaries from all over the world, including maestros Yella Venkateshwar Rao, Hariharan and Shankar Mahadevan would witness the historic event, which would be inaugurated by renowned Hindustani music exponent Pandit Jasraj,who is also Ramesh Narayan’s master.

“Music is the greatest gift of God to mankind. It can be used as a medicine. In this tension-filled world, only music can give solace to the mind,” Ramesh Narayan said.

“The concert will be dedicated to legends, from Isaac Newton to Poonthanam,” he said.

The singer will perform the fete in Pune with the support extended by the Pandit Motiram Narayan Sangeeth Vidyalaya, Uthradam Thirunal Marthanda Varma Foundation and Kerala Tourism.

Pandit Ramesh Narayan has enthralled audience in India and abroad through scores of renderings. After Pune,the gifted artiste is also planning to conduct yet another record- breaking recital in Gwalior.
