The 74-year-old Sree Swathi Thirunal College of Music will add another feather in its cap with the opening of a state-of-the-art recording studio on the campus on Monday.
The studio with facilities for high quality audio and video recording is set up in a special hall built for the purpose. ‘’The studio, modelled on the lines of such facilities in other reputed national and international music colleges, will be highly useful for the students,’’ said college principal Prof P S Vanaja.
‘’Self-improvisation is important for any artist and recorded visual and audio materials of their performance will help the students to achieve this goal,’’ she added.
The studio with imported equipment comprises three separate suits, including one for editing. The studio and building were set up by the Public Works Department at a cost of around Rs one crore.
The college has around 300 students in UG and PG streams and all the students will be able to utilise the studio, the college principal said.
The studio also boasts of a multimedia library. ‘’It also facilitates us to record lecture demos and concerts of eminent alumni and guest lecturers who visit the institution,’’ she added.
Education Minister P K Abdu Rabb will inaugurate the studio. Public Works Minister V K Ebrahim Kunju will switch on the equipment. Health Minister V S Sivakumar will preside over the inaugural function.
