The Kerala State Backward Classes Welfare Development Corporation (KSBCDC) is planning to disburse Rs 30 crore by way of loans this year, Minister for Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes A P Anil Kumar said on Tuesday.
Anil Kumar was speaking after inaugurating the BCDC Beneficiary Leadership Meet organised at Kanakakkunnu Palace here. The KSBCDC loans will be disbursed through the Kudumbashree-CDS units and any allegations to the contrary are baseless, he said.
Even in the matter of micro-finance, the KSBCDC is making the disbursements through the Kudumbashree-CDS units in a transparent manner. But the allegations levelled by certain sections regarding the disbursement of loans are due to misunderstanding, he said.
The KSBCDC was a model to other corporations in the state. Corporations face difficulties in making repayments, but the KSBCDC has ensured 95 per cent repayment up to now.
The State Government will soon launch a welfare corporation for pottery workers. This is a sign of the welfare measures being adopted by the UDF government for the working class.
Loans should be given for activities like self-employment and education, Industries Minister Manjalamkuzhi Ali, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said.
KSBCDC chairman Mohan Sankar and managing director B Dileep Kumar also spoke.
