The election heat has subsided and the city streets that were reverberating with the neck-and-neck competition between political parties with their loud announcements slipped to a holiday mood by Sunday. However, the remains of the hectic poll campaigning are hanging and slanting on numerous corners of the capital’s streets - the flex boards and banners put up by political parties and other candidates are yet to say good bye to the cityscape.
If the major roads offer a breather, as political parties have shown their responsibility in taking away the flex boards installed for campaigning from there, the other roads are still in the grip of flex boards, particularly that of the parties engaged in the triangular contest in the Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha constituency.
Flex boards big, small and medium and posters of various hues continue to mar the beauty of these places. “The political parties had been asked to take away the flex boards on their own after the campaigning was over,” said Sabu Paul Sebastian, Additional Chief Electoral Officer.
Pangode, Vazhuthacaud, Sasthamangalam and Bakery Junction are some places where the flex boards continue making their appearance.
The City Corporation has already stopped allowing flex boards at Gandhi Park, Secretariat, Corporation Office and Medical College areas.
