Renovation Costing Rs 35 L Soon

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Renovation of the sanctum sanctorum of Sreekanteswaram Mahadeva Temple in the city will be completed at a cost of Rs 35 lakh, said Devaswom Minister V S Sivakumar during his visit to the temple to assess the renovation works going on there on Wednesday.

On the eastern side of the temple, work of laying interlocking tiles to be done at Rs 4.53 lakh will commence soon.

When work on the sanctum sanctorum at an old estimate of Rs 12.1 lakh and a 55 per cent extra amount was sanctioned, the need to reconstruct all portions made of wood was noticed.

For this, another Rs 12.02 lakh was also allotted. After tendering, an amount added to the estimate will be sanctioned.
