Come this Saturday, art lovers across the state will have a unique opportunity to witness paintings being created in front of their own eyes and even buy select ones at an affordable price. The Kerala Lalithakala Akademi is organising simultaneous one-day painting camps titled ‘Varnotsavam’ in all district headquarters of the state on Saturday in which over 1,000 artists are expected to participate.

The participating artists will be given travel allowance, paper and colours free of cost by the Akademi.

Besides witnessing the paintings being created before their own eyes, the public can also buy them as part of the ‘One Painting In Each House’ project of the Akademi. Paintings created at the camp will be priced at Rs 3,000 each. “Half the amount will be paid to the artist and the remaining amount will be credited to the Akademi’s Artist Welfare Fund,” Kerala Lalithakala Akademi chairman K A Francis said.
