THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Lt Gen Y Chacko Tharakan, Director General, Land, Works and Environment, Ministry of Defence, has instituted a trophy and scholarship to be awarded to the outstanding students of the Sainik School, Kazhakkoottam.
This senior-most serving officer from among the alumni of the Sainik School visited his alma mater on Tuesday ahead of his retirement on May 31. On his arrival, he was accorded a warm welcome by principal Lt Col P G Suresh Kumar, the staff and the cadet appointments. He went around the school campus and expressed satisfaction over the training facilities.
He was briefed about the recent achievements of the school in the field of academics, NDA results, NCC and sports. He wound up his visit with a lunch with cadets at the cadets mess followed by an interaction with staff and students.
