O V Vijayan Literary Award Presented

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The O V Vijayan Literary Award instituted by Naveena Samskarika Kala Kendram (NSKK), a socio-cultural association of Keralites settled in Hyderabad, was presented to noted literary critic B Rajeevan at a ceremony held at NSKK High School auditorium at Ferozguda in Hyderabad the other day, a release from NSKK issued here said.  The organisation of Keralites here has instituted the ward in the name of Vijayan to commemorate the legendary Malayalam writer who spent his last days in Hyderabad.

The annual award comprising a cash prize of Rs 50,001, a memento designed by renowned sculptor Kanayi Kunhiraman & a citation is being given to selected Malayalam literary works in different categories like novel, short stories, poetry & non-fiction. B Rajeevan’s ‘Vakkukalum Vasthukkalum’ was selected by the jury for the award.

Noted Tamil writer Sivasankari gave away the award to Rajeevan at a function attended by media personality Sashi Kumar, writer P Surendran, environmental activist C R Neelaknadan and painter Laxman Goud.

A cartoon meet was also organised in association with the Kerala Lalitha Kala Akademi. A cartoon exhibition of participating cartoonists was also held.
