Raja Ravi Varma Art Gallery Opened

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Culture Minister K C Joseph on Wednesday inaugurated the Raja Ravi Varma Art Gallery set up by the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi at Kilimanoor near here, the birth place of the renowned painter Raja Ravi Varma.

 Inaugurating the art gallery, Joseph said it will help the present generation to recognise the contributions of Ravi Varma to art.

 ‘’It was a longstanding demand to have a memorial for Ravi Varma at the place of his birth here in Kilimanoor,’’ the Minister said.

 The Minister added that Ravi Varma’s works have been explained at the art gallery for the public to have a proper understanding of the paintings.   It has been set up on a 66-cent plot given by the panchayat and has copies of 47 iconic paintings.
