Poet Sugathakumari Pitches Planting Trees to Save Waterbodies

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Poet Sugathakumari on Thursday said that ponds and streams must be conserved and preserved as it is instead of building concrete walls around such water bodies. The poet also appealed to youngsters and elders alike to come forward to work for the preservation of water resources.

She was speaking after performing the district level inauguration of the ‘Neeruravakalude Nerarivukal Thedi’ initiative of the Kerala Forest and Wildlife Department, World Wide Fund for Nature - India, National Service Scheme, Directorate of Higher Secondary Education and Academy for Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (AMAS) to preserve and revive 54 ponds in the district
