Kerala Government Bans Nicotine Gum

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After reports from the Food Safety Commissioner of increasing consumption of nicotine based chewing gum in the state, government decided to ban the sale of the chewing gum through shops other than medical stores in the state.

The gum, which is prescribed by doctors to help people quit smoking, can be purchased only with a doctor’s prescription. It was observed that addiction to nicotine gum as increasing.
