THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Bengali director Bauddhayan Mukerji has been selected for Aravindan Puraskaram, instituted by Chalachithra Film Society here, for best debutant director. He was chosen for his Bengali movie ‘Teenkahon’ (Three Obsessions).

Sanalkumar Sasidharan, director of ‘Oral Pokkam’, received a jury special mention. A set of 18 films from different languages competed for the award.

The award comprising a cash purse of Rs 25000, certificate and statuette will be presented at the Press Club here on March 15, the death anniversary of film director Aravindan. The winner was selected by a jury chaired by film editor Bina Paul Venugopal.
