Murder at Vandannoor: Four nabbed

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Four persons were arrested by the Maranalloor police for allegedly conspiring the murder of a youth at a public road, the other day. The murder took place at Vandannoor near Neyyattinkara in broad daylight. The police are still in the lookout for three others who are directly linked to the murder.

The arrested have been identified as Arun alias Arun Kumar,35; Vinod alias Vinod Krishna,35; Suma alias Subash Kumar,32 and Sunu alias Sunil Kumar,42. All are natives of Thamalam near Karamana.  On Saturday, Suresh Kumar, 27, was hacked to death by a gang of four after he was knocked down by a car at Vandannnoor. Kumar who was riding a scooter was knocked down by the assailants who chased him. Kumar fell into a nearby drain after which he was hacked. Though the attackers ran away from the scene, the local residents managed to catch one of them who was handed over to the police. The police identified the accused as Gireesh Kumar.

The murder was a retaliation to the killing of Binu over a gang war at Thamalam in 2013. The deceased, Kumar was the second accused in the murder.  According to police, the youths who have been arrested were not directly involved in the murder and were key in conspiring the attack. All the four were nabbed from a hide-out at Pappanamcode on Monday night, police said.   The other accused have been identified as Samkutty, Sivakumar and Renju.
