Indoor Sports Complex Inauguration Today

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the multi-purpose indoor sports complex, which has come up as part of the Trivandrum Sports Hub at Kariavattom, at 6.30 pm on Thursday. The indoor facility will become a part of the Sports Hub, which also houses the Greenfield International Stadium.

Lit by state-of-the-art 500 lux floodlights, the complex will have three basketball courts and 12 shuttle badminton courts as well as a swimming pool. Additionally, each of the basketball courts at the 22,600-sq ft facility are also capable of doubling up as four badminton courts, if needed.   The floor of the indoor facility has been made of Canadian maple wood, while special area for children in the pool, locker rooms and toilets have been arranged at the disabled-friendly facility.

Sports Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan,  Shashi Tharoor MP, Thiruvananthapuram Corporation Mayor V K Prasanth and MLA M A Vahid are also expected to be present on the occasion.
