Uniform Civil Code: BJP flays CPM stance

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPM was taking a barbaric stance on the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code, BJP state general secretary K Surendran said on Tuesday. He told a news conference that the CPM stand was not suited for a civilised society. The CPM had a double standard on the triple talaq and Uniform Civil Code, he said.

The CPM was trying to polarise society by propagating the view that the Uniform Civil Code was against the Muslim community.

“The CPM is even rejecting E M S Namboodiripadu’s stand that the Uniform Civil Code should be implemented. Attempts are being made to align with the communal forces,” he said. Both the fronts were trying to appease the minorities. That was the reason behind the opposition to the probe against Peace International School.
