THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP MLA O Rajagopal on Thursday came down heavily on Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for his allegation the RSS was behind the murder of Mahatma Gandhi on the first day of the current Assembly session. He said it would be an injustice if the Speaker did not expunge the remarks made by the Chief Minister alleging the RSS had killed Mahatma Gandhi.

He did not heed to the Speakers’ request not to spoil the mood of cordiality as it was a special session marking the 60 th anniversary of the First Kerala Assembly.

“The Chief Minister was taking advantage of his legislative immunity to attack the RSS and mislead the people by making totally baseless allegations against the RSS. Three judicial commissions and the Supreme Court had cleared the RSS of the charge of murdering  Gandhiji,” said Rajagopal.

He advised the Ruling and Opposition benches to open their eyes to accept the fact there was no point in continuing to be intolerant to change.

“There were political parties like PSP that played a key role in the formation of governments in the past. Such parties have now ceased to exist. Change is inevitable; your intolerance will not do any good,” he said.

Rajagopal also criticised the government for not implementing the Supreme Court order to reinstate T P Senkumar as state police chief.

By this time, the ruling front members were on their feet demanding the Speaker to switch off Rajagopal’s mike. Amidst the din, he demanded Victoria Jubilee Town Hall should be renamed as Ayyankali Hall, as the social reformer was a member of the Sree Moolam Assembly.
