THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The death of actor Sreenath in 2010 is back in the news with his wife Latha seeking a reinvestigation into her husband’s death. She called on Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday demanding that the Crime Branch or a similar agency be handed the assignment. According to her, a proper reinvestigation would help to unravel the mystery that shrouds the death.

In her petition, she said it was highly unlikely that Sreenath, who faced difficulties in his life with a smile, would take his own life.

Sreenath had been found dead in a hotel room in Kothamangalam on April 23, 2010. He was there for the shooting of the movie ‘Shikar’ with a 41-day call sheet. None of the people associated with the movie, however, accompanied his body or visited his residence subsequently, Latha said.

In fact, his body had been removed even before the police arrived on the scene. After his death, his mobile phone and purse had vanished under mysterious circumstances. Several pages from his diary were missing.
Latha later told reporters that the Chief Minister assured her of a favourable decision. He said he would do the needful, she said.
