Puthenpalam Rajesh lands in police net

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The city police nabbed gangster Puthenpalam Rajesh for allegedly carrying explosives in his vehicle at Pallithura beach within the Thumba police station limits on Tuesday night.
 Rajesh, 40, is a history-sheeter and an accused in several criminal cases, including murder and robbery.

The Thumba police arrested him after they received a call from a church near Pallithura beach complaining that a few anti-social elements were consuming liquor on the beach. When the police reached the spot, they saw around five to six persons boozing at the public place.

But all of them except Rajesh  fled from the spot on seeing the police. Though Rajesh managed to hide in a coastal hamlet, the police traced and took him into custody.

The police also recovered two crude bombs kept in the boot of the car which was parked near the beach. Rajesh’s accomplice Santhosh who was present at the spot, also ran away on seeing the police.  According to the police, Rajesh, was released on bail nearly a month ago in connection with a gang rivalry case involving another goonda Dini Babu.

Rajesh will be produced before the magistrate after interrogation. The arrest was recorded by a police team led by Kazhakoottam Assistant Commissioner Pramod Kumar. The police booked him based on the Explosives Act which is a non-bailable offence.
