Panel fixes Karuna MC tuition fee at Rs 4.68 Lakh

The Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee for Medical Education has fixed the tuition fee in Karuna Medical College, Palakkad at `4.68 lakh for 2017-18, and `4.05 lakh for the 2016-17.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee for Medical Education has fixed the tuition fee in Karuna Medical College, Palakkad at `4.68 lakh for 2017-18, and `4.05 lakh for the 2016-17 academic year.In the order, Justice Rajendrababu said that tuition fees already collected from the students in excess of the fee should be refunded or adjusted towards the tuition fee for the future years.

The committee reached the fee structure for the college with respect to the available documents submitted before it. With respect to the 2017-18 fees,  it allowed an increase of 10 per cent for future development expenditure based on the claim by management representatives during the hearing. The committee also found it appropriate to allow an increase of five percent towards the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) for inflation for the year 2017-18. For 2016-17 also, the committee allowed an increase of five percent towards WPI.
