TIRUVANANTHAPURAM : GV Raja Sports School principal C S Pradeep has been transferred to Kannur sports division after a Special Branch report exposed the role of insiders in food poisoning incidents at the hostel. The Special Branch report has called for a probe after raising doubts that the food poisoning was the handiwork of the principal with the help of some students. In the latest incident, 37 inmates, including girls, fell sick after having dinner at the hostel canteen.

They were not given medical aid until TV channels reported about the incident. A police probe into the incident is progressing and Pradeep’s statement will be recorded soon. According to the police, though the hostel has 100 inmates, the number of students affected by food poisoning was only 30. The police suspect that the students who were aware of the plot skipped dinner. The police have recorded the statements of 15 staff who were sacked after the incident. There is a rift among the principal, teachers and Parent-Teacher Association. Meanwhile, students staged a protest against the principal’s transfer.
