THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : The Congress party will face attrition if it continues to adopt double standards in the Sabarimala women entry issue, CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said. He was speaking after inaugurating a public meeting organised by the LDF at Kundamankadavu to protest against the attack on the Ashram of Sandeepanandagiri.

The BJP and the Congress are trying to create the impression the Communists are against religious faith.
In fact, a majority of the Communists in the state are devotees. The RSS and the BJP are behind the attack on the ashram. The RSS would go to any extent to silence dissent, Balakrishnan said.

The tactics of Amit Shah will not succeed in the state. The people of Kerala will recognise his attempts to trigger unrest in the state. Any attempt in this direction will be strongly opposed, he said. CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran, who spoke on the occasion, said the Communists stood with true devotees. LDF leaders M Vijayakumar, V Sivankutty, Jameela Prakasam and Palayam Rajan were among those present.
