THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Upgrading Attukal temple into a major pilgrim centre by converting the area into a township, development of Vellayani lake into a pime tourist spot and revival of ailing industrial units to generate more employment are the major promises in the manifesto for Nemom constituency brought out by BJP candidate and party state president Rajeev Chandrasekar.

Releasing the manifesto, Chandrasekhar said the document was a “social contract” that he was presenting before the voters. “It is not a false promise like what is given by the Congress or CPM but it is my guarantee to the people and also my vision,” Chandrasekhar said.

The other major proposals in the manifesto include launching a project called ‘Clean Karamana, Clean Killiyar’ from the bali ghat of Thiruvallam Parasurama Temple. Vijaymohini Mill will be revived and new job opportunities will be created. SIDCO industrial estate will be revived for creation of jobs, the manifesto said.

A sky-watch tower at Judjikunnu, uplift of Kireedam bridge into a cultural centre and setting up of a sports training centre, uplift of the Santhivila hospital into a healthcare hub are other promises in the manifesto.
