VIJAYAWADA: Dry weather conditions prevailed in Vijayawada city on Sunday with the mercury rising 3-4 degree Celsius in a span of seven days.
Vijayawada witnessed the season’s highest temperature of 42 degree C on Sunday. It was this year’s hottest day in the city.
While the maximum temperature recorded on Saturday was 41.5 degree Celsius, mercury soared up to 46 degree Celsius in the rural parts of Vijayawada, according to the weather report of ISRO. The minimum temperature in the city was 29.4 degree Celsius on Sunday, which was raised from 27.6 degrees recorded on Saturday. From April 18, the minimum temperatures shot up to 29.4 degree from 26 degree Celsius.
At the same period, the maximum temperatures in the city have increased from 38.3 degree Celsius to 42 degree Celsius. Many citizens are falling sick due to the dry weather conditions prevailing in the city.
“The summer effect has started in the city, where majority of the medical cases are getting registered with fever, dehydration etc. As the city is under severe heat wave conditions, people are getting affected with various health disorders. People should take proper precautions while going out,” said N Jaganmohan, Superintendent of Government General Hospital, Vijayawada.
Meanwhile, the district health department officials have instructed the department staff to take various initiatives like distributing buttermilk and ORS sachets at main centres of the city.
“We have been instructed to keep a stock of ORS sachets and other emergency kits at all health centres and government offices. We are making sure that every person in the district gets proper treatment and medication,” said Nageswar, Krishna District Epidemiologist.
