Health on wheels to spread smiles in vizianagaram, vizag

VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC) has donated two Health on Wheels (Arogya Ratham) vehicles for extending medical services to people in the remote areas of Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts.The special vehicles, with facilities to conduct 200 medical tests like Electrocardiography, blood and urine tests will be equipped with cancer diagnosing machines in near future.

Flagging off the vehicles at the Interim Government Complex in Velagapudi on Wednesday, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that the vehicles will be equipped with Global Positioning System (GPS) facility to organise health camps in villages. Naidu said that results of the medical tests will be linked to the Chief Minister core dashboard.

Reiterating that the government committed to develop Andhra Pradesh as the medical hub of the nation, he expressed happiness over Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation donating health vehicles under corporate responsibility and called upon non-resident Indians (NRIs) and philanthropists to come forward with such initiatives.

Recalling that the government has already introduced Chandranna mobile clinics for providing medical assistance in the remote areas, the Chief Minister observed that such vehicles would help in conducting medical services for people who don’t have immediate access to healthcare facilities.
Mines and Geology Minister Sujaya Krishna Ranga Rao,  Swachh Andhra Mission executive vice-chairman Dr C L Venkata Rao, Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation director Ch Venkaiah Chowdary were also present.
