VIJAYAWADA: The much-awaited cargo facility was launched at Vijayawada Airport in Gannavaram on Tuesday.  Minister for Law & Justice, and Sports, Kollu Ravindra, launched the facility at the old terminal building.

The facility will be handy for the farmers in the Krishna and Godavari districts, as they can export around 15-metric tonnes of agriculture products, like mango, chilly, spices and handlooms, to various parts of the country, Kollu Ravindra said.

Aqua products, especially prawn, can be exported from the airport to New Delhi, where there is a huge demand for it, the minister added.

G Madhusudhan Rao, airport director, said, ‘’Around 3 to 4 tons of goods can be exported and imported by flights utilising the cargo facility.

The Custom Clearing and International Forwarding Agency, Sripa logistics, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for rendering services to the traders.’’
