Jagan builds ‘Digital Army’ for 2019 polls

VIJAYAWADA:   A team of youngsters is now campaigning on social media platforms for Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, hoping to see a change in the political leadership in the State. Over 200 men and women handpicked from all 13 districts are not only excited to meet Jagan, but also discuss issues concerning the youth of the State and seek his advice. The youngsters will be trained in new media to “act as leaders who will train other youth seeking to work voluntarily for Jagan’s campaign”, a YSRC leader said.

“To facilitate a direct interaction with the leader, the party has planned a session for the social media volunteers,” said senior YSRC leader Y V Subbareddy. The meet is planned at the padayatra camp site in Razole, East Godavari, on Saturday.

The “Digital Army” will discuss ideas on how they can participate in and contribute to Jagan Mohan Reddy’s social media campaign ahead of the AP Assembly and Lok Sabha polls. The digital volunteers will be part of social events in their districts.The Opposition leader has more than 13 lakh followers, as opposed to the Chief Minister’s 10 lakh. In fact, for the past 3 months, the Twitter engagement rate per tweet for Jagan’s handle has been higher than the handles of Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
