VIJAYAWADA: Poets from across the globe, who had gathered in Vijayawada for the fourth International Multilingual Poets Meet under the Amaravati Poetic Prism 2018 programme, visited the 125-ft high Dhyana Buddha statue at Amaravati on Monday.

E Sivanagi Reddy, CEO of Cultural Center of Vijayawada and Amaravati, which organised the meet, guided them through the post-event excursion. The group of poets, who belonged to countries such as Albania, Arabia, Italy, Jordon, Mongolia, India and Sri Lanka, on being inspired by the statue, composed poetry in their respective languages.

They also paid a visit to Mahachaitya at Dhanyakataka and the Archaeological museum. Sivanagi Reddy told them about the historical significance of Dhanyakataka-Amaravati, Buddhism, and about Acharya Nagarjuna’s association with the Stupa.
