VIJAYAWADA: The State government has issued orders to finalise the new State emblem on Wednesday. The emblem is inspired by the Amaravati School of Art, which comprising ‘Dhamma Chakka’—the Wheel of Law embellished with a ring of ‘triratnas’ (a symbol representing the three jewels of Buddhism) alternating with pinnate leaves and precious stones.
The three circles of decorative beads in ascending order of numbers—48 on the inner, 118 on the middle and 148 on the outer circle. ‘Puna Ghataka’ or the vase of plenty is at the hub of the Dhamma Chakka. It is decorated with a four-banded garland on the main body with medallions and tassels. There is a braid around the thin neck and a flaring mouth. The national emblem is placed at the bottom. The words ‘Andhra Pradesh Prabhutvam’ in Telugu will be at the top flanked by Andhra Pradesh in English and Hindi. The words ‘Satyameva Jayate’ in Telugu script appears at the bottom.
At present, the Telugu font, which is at the bottom of the emblem, is shifted to the top of the emblem, while the English font shifted to the bottom. The State icon Poorna Kumbham was changed to Puna Ghataka. The multicoloured emblem can be used by the CM, the Council of Ministers, Chief Secretary, Secretaries, Advocate General, all HoDs, District Collectors and District Magistrates. The blue coloured emblem can only be used by ‘All-District HoDs and Secretariat Mid-Level Officers or equivalent’.
