VIJAYAWADA: Officials of Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) are planning to provide video lectures and special coaching through virtual classrooms for Government junior colleges students appearing for JEE and NEET examinations.
From this year onwards, BIE has selected 16 colleges and offered free coaching for competitive examinations.The board’s initiative is getting a good response; the students of other colleges are too are seeking similar coaching to appear for various competitive examinations. The officials are planning to provide video lectures through virtual classes and coaching to the aspirants to appear for JEE, NEET and EAMCET.
In June, the BIE officials selected one college from each district and decided to make it a model one by offering special coaching for EAMCET, JEE and NEET examinations. Accordingly, they chose 16 colleges across the State and offered coaching, similar to private colleges. Narayana Colleges-sponsored special study material to these students. Similar to private colleges, weekly tests and monthly examinations will be conducted for the students studying in these model colleges, where their Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets will be scanned and validated and scores compared with other colleges.
Similarly, students of other government colleges, who want to appear for competitive examinations will be shortlisted and video lectures will be provided through digital and virtual classrooms. This apart, just like the model colleges, weekly examinations will be conducted and the students’ marks will be tallied.
Speaking to TNIE, S Sarala Kumari, Principal of SRR and CVR Junior College said, “The students are enthusiastic to get this training and they are actively taking part in weekly tests. In fact, they are more confident now; competitiveness among them has also increased. Teachers too are taking special care teaching the students.”
In all, there are 454 government junior colleges, where almost four lakh students of both first and second-year Intermediate are studying. The officials are planning to start the video lectures from the first week of December.
