VIJAYAWADA: After the successful booking of 300 units of housing project HappyNest designed for public, the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) is set to examine the possibility of taking up another similar project for the government employees. The authority has already held preliminary discussions in this regard and is expected to come up with a concrete plan in the coming months.

Even though the government is building housing quarters for its employees in Amaravati, some of the employees’ associations have requested the government to consider developing a housing project for them at affordable rates. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu too has positively responded to this during one of the APCRDA review meetings held earlier this month.

“We are already in the process of constructing 3,840 houses for various cadres of government officials. Besides this, a few employees have made representation to the government, requesting an affordable project such as HappyNest. Preliminary discussions have begun. The number of flats, basic price and other facilities will be decided after we freeze the plan,” an official explained.

The official added that the exercise to finalise the plan would begin after the authority is done with the sale of the remaining HappyNest flats announced for the public.

It maybe noted that the authority, on November 9, had made 300 units of the G+18 apartments available for booking. The flats, with a basic price of `3,492 per sft, were booked within hours. Now, the authority is prepping for the second and final round of the remaining 1,200 flats soon.

While the officials had initially planned to release another 300 flats for sale on November 15, it was postponed for various reasons. It is learnt that the officials are now looking at putting the remaining flats for booking in the first week of December.
